Invitation to Newcastle ‘MyTo’ event 24th – 25th of March 2018 in Newcastle upon Tyne
We are always looking to come up with new ways to improve the lives of our patients. This could take various forms – whether it’s through the development of new technologies, or new ways to connect and engage. In the past, we have found that the best ideas have come from people who have direct experience of mitochondrial disease. Therefore, we are running a MyTo event to generate new ideas – we would like to invite you to this event!
About the event
In 2018, together with Open Lab at Newcastle University, we will run a multistage design event with the purpose of involving people living with mitochondrial disease in the design and development of ideas that could transform their lives. This is a not-for-profit venture aimed at patients and their partners, carers, families and friends, and we are inviting you to contribute to the development of new and open knowledge about life with mitochondrial disease, on which we can build an innovative and inclusive future.
These events will see people with mitochondrial disease, their partners, carers, friends and families come together with designers and technologists to create working prototypes of systems and services over a 2-day period. We will then be holding an online campaign to refine, redesign, and put to vote ideas on our commissioning platform, Ideaboard.
We will provide accommodation and, over the course of the 2-day session, participants will have opportunities to relax and have some quiet time between sessions.
Sessions will run from 9.15-4.30 on the Saturday and 9.30-4pm on the Sunday. All participants would be expected to attend both days.
Is this for you?
Do you have an idea that could change the lives of patients with mitochondrial disease? Or would you like to work with design and technology experts to come up with an idea? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, here is your chance to develop your ideas.
What would we need from you?
You do not need to be a design expert or have an idea already. We will pay for food and refreshments on the days of the event. We will also cover the costs of standard class transport and accommodation for your party.
Places are limited and are on a first come first served basis so booking is essential. Bookings must also be confirmed before making arrangements to travel/attend as there will be no places available on the day
