Biography

I am a Genetic Technologist working as part of the NCG Mitochondrial Diagnostic Service. I provide technical support to the molecular Clinical Scientists within our service which aids in the molecular diagnosis of patients with suspected mitochondrial disease.

Our team also includes Biomedical Scientists who assess the histochemical and biochemical activities in patient samples which help to direct the molecular genetic investigations.

I was motivated to work in this laboratory due to completing my PhD and subsequent Postdoctoral role as part of the Mitochondrial Research Group. This has allowed me to see first hand how techniques developed in the research field have helped to provide diagnosis for patients and their families.
