Dr Ben Marram

Clinical Psychologist

Biography

I joined the Newcastle Mitochondrial Service as a Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist in November 2019. I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2015 before specialising in clinical neuropsychology within regional neurorehabilitation services. As part of the clinical multi-disciplinary team at Newcastle, I provide specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment, therapy and rehabilitation.

I feel extremely privileged to be involved with the design and delivery of innovative psychological services for people affected by mitochondrial disease and their families, the first of their kind. My clinical and research interests include developing a better understanding (and therefore treatment of) the cognitive consequences of mitochondrial conditions, but also the development of specialist psychological therapies for people living with long term health conditions like mitochondrial disease. My main therapeutic interest and experience is in the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for people living with long term health conditions.
